Enhancing Global Trade from the Port of Bilbao
Between April 14 and May 12, 2026, Uniport is set to enhance the internationalization of the Port of Bilbao through a comprehensive tour across Brazil, Zaragoza, Madrid, and Casablanca. This initiative aims to attract new foreign and domestic traffic by offering specialized logistics services. The campaign will kick off with a transoceanic mission from April 14 to 16, during which Uniport will coordinate a delegation from the Port of Bilbao at Intermodal South America, the premier logistics meeting in Latin America taking place in São Paulo.
Located in the Spain Pavilion, organized by ICEX and Puertos del Estado, the Basque representatives will showcase their infrastructure and regular shipping lines suited for a variety of goods destined for Europe. The offerings include refrigerated or frozen food in containers, bulk products, machinery, equipment goods, chemicals, and steel products. Simultaneously, from April 15 to 18, the cluster will participate in SMOPYC Zaragoza (International Exhibition of Public Works, Construction, and Mining Machinery). This forum will emphasize the specialization of port community companies in the comprehensive logistics of special cargoes and complex global projects.
Strategic Focus on Key Markets
Following the Zaragoza event, the agenda will shift to Madrid from April 21 to 23 for the WindEurope Annual Event. Here, Uniport will share the Wind Energy Basque Country pavilion with the Port Authority of Bilbao, focusing on offshore wind energy and showcasing highly specialized infrastructure and services for key players in the energy supply chain. The tour will wrap up in Casablanca from May 12 to 14 with participation in Logismed, the primary meeting point for transport and supply chain professionals in Morocco and North Africa.
In this context, Bilbao will be promoted as a strategic gateway to the northern Iberian Peninsula and Atlantic Europe, leveraging its competitive multi-modal service offerings. Uniport's strategy prioritizes three key geographical markets: Latin America (via Brazil), the domestic Spanish market, and North Africa (through Morocco), solidifying Bilbao's position as an international logistics hub. During the events in Zaragoza and Madrid, particular emphasis will be placed on special cargoes and project logistics, especially for the offshore wind energy sector. Furthermore, at Logismed in Morocco, the Port of Bilbao will be presented as the main infrastructure and 'gateway' connecting the Moroccan market with Atlantic Europe and northern Spain through multi-modal services.
