Synhelion Signs Agreement for Synthetic Fuel Production in Morocco
In a significant move towards sustainable energy, Synhelion has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Moroccan government to develop a commercial-scale facility for synthetic fuels in the southern province of Tan-Tan. This ambitious project aims to produce an impressive 100,000 tons of renewable fuel annually. To facilitate the initiative, Synhelion has already reserved land for the facility and established a local branch, Synhelion Morocco, marking a concrete step towards actualizing the project.
The agreement was formalized with multiple Moroccan ministries, including the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE). This collaboration lays the groundwork for producing renewable synthetic fuels designed to meet the energy needs of the future while also addressing environmental concerns.
Harnessing Renewable Resources for a Sustainable Future
The proposed facility in Tan-Tan is strategically located in a region abundant in renewable energy resources, providing an ideal environment for the development of a comprehensive value chain for synthetic fuels. Synhelion specializes in producing renewable synthetic kerosene, diesel, and gasoline, which can directly replace fossil fuels without requiring modifications to existing engines or fuel infrastructure. These fuels are crafted from renewable energy sources and biogenic waste, significantly reducing net CO₂ emissions by up to 100%, thus contributing to a more resilient and diverse energy supply.
As part of its global strategy, Synhelion is actively exploring additional sites for commercial facilities dedicated to renewable synthetic fuel production. The Moroccan project is a crucial step in scaling this technology and ensuring that renewable fuels can be produced at competitive costs over the long term. With the newly established Synhelion Morocco branch granted Casablanca Finance City status, the company is strategically positioned within one of Morocco's key international economic and investment centers.
