Moroccan Professional Football League's Season Start Date Revealed

The National Professional Football League of Morocco has officially announced the commencement dates for the 2026/2027 season of the professional league, which will consist of both the first and second divisions. According to the president of a first-division club, who spoke to LE360 Sport, the new season is slated to begin on either October 12 or 13, 2026. The league draw for the upcoming season is scheduled for Friday, August 28, 2026.

The delay in the start of the professional league this season can be attributed to the upcoming parliamentary elections, which are set to take place on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. This decision was made during a preparatory meeting held by the league to finalize arrangements for the new season.

League Structure and Participating Teams for the New Season

Despite recommendations from several coaches and the players’ association, led by Mustafa El Haddadi, to expand the first division to include 20 teams, the league management has decided to maintain the current structure without any changes. On the other hand, the second division will include teams such as Olympic Khouribga, Olympic Safi, Ittihad Yaâcoub Mansour, Stade Marocain, Wydad Fassi, Ittihad Islamic Oujda, Chabab Massira, Chabab Atlas Khénifra, Chabab Salmi, Mouloudia of Oujda, Chabab Ben Guerir, Chabab Mohammedia, RC Kenitra, Ittihad Abi J'ad, Ittihad Zamouri Khemisset, and Olympic Dcheira.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the draw on August 28, which will unveil the match schedule for the new season, as teams continue their preparations for the league's kickoff in mid-October.
