U.S. and Moroccan Forces Collaborate for Strategic Defense Innovation
In a significant advancement in defense cooperation, U.S. service members have joined forces with Morocco's Royal Armed Forces to conduct the first-ever live-fire demonstration at the Africa Multidomain Training and Experimentation Center located in Tan-Tan, Morocco. This historic event took place from August 3 to August 7, 2026, and was designed to support a U.S. defense industry partner in testing long-range precision-strike capabilities as part of the Army's Test Range Expansion Initiative. This demonstration not only highlights the strengthening ties between the U.S. and Morocco but also serves to enhance regional defense capabilities and joint training interoperability.
Moroccan Colonel Zouhair El Hamdani, the officer responsible for coordination, expressed the ambition behind the establishment of the Africa Multidomain Training and Experimentation Center, stating, "The vision is to establish this center as a regional hub for innovation, strategic cooperation, and industrial development, as well as a center of excellence dedicated to the experimentation, validation, evaluation, and development of advanced technologies." He emphasized that this live-fire demonstration marks a pivotal moment in realizing that vision, setting the stage for future innovations and collaborations.
