Valenciaport's Strategic Role in North African Trade

Valenciaport has recently taken center stage at the Logismed Casablanca international trade fair, recognized as North Africa's premier logistics and supply chain event. This initiative aims to bolster Valenciaport's foothold in the Moroccan market and solidify its significance as a crucial port facilitating trade routes between Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean. The Port Authority of Valencia (APV), under the leadership of Valenciaport President Mar Chao, engaged in a series of institutional meetings and collaborative sessions with key representatives from Morocco's logistics and port sectors. Their participation occurred within the Spanish Pavilion, organized by ICEX, which served as a collaborative platform for Spanish enterprises and organizations.

The Logismed event annually attracts a diverse array of stakeholders, including government officials, logistics operators, shipping companies, and leaders from the transportation and supply chain industries. This year, the trade fair drew over 5,000 participants and has become an essential venue for fostering business opportunities and establishing strategic alliances within the Maghreb region.

Enhancing Connectivity and Trade Volume

During the event, Valenciaport showcased its extensive international connectivity and robust logistics capabilities, emphasizing the strategic importance of the ports of Valencia, Sagunto, and Gandia as vital gateways for the flow of goods between Europe and North Africa. Morocco has emerged as one of Valenciaport's most significant trading partners, with trade volume between Valenciaport and Moroccan ports reaching an impressive 2,090,864 tons in 2025, marking a noteworthy increase of 7.81% from the previous year. Furthermore, in terms of container traffic, Valenciaport handled a total of 121,193 full TEUs with Morocco in 2025, reflecting a remarkable growth of 16.92% compared to the prior year. These statistics underscore Morocco's position as one of the primary international markets for APV and highlight the critical role of maritime hubs like Casablanca and Tangier Med in enhancing strategic connections across Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean.

Valenciaport's involvement in Logismed aligns seamlessly with its internationalization strategy and the vision outlined in its 2035 Strategic Plan, which prioritizes sustainable growth, innovation, connectivity, and the strengthening of commercial ties with key markets.
