Effective July 1, Vossloh Services France and the Portuguese company Futrifer Indústrias Ferroviárias, in which Vossloh and Diorama hold interests, have officially established the joint venture "Vossloh Futrifer Services Maroc," headquartered in Casablanca. This strategic collaboration aims to meet the escalating demands of Morocco's rapidly evolving rail transport market by leveraging cutting-edge maintenance technology.
The newly formed entity will offer a comprehensive range of services encompassing switch and crossing maintenance, mobile welding work on tracks (both manual and robotic), rail grinding, rail milling, as well as general track and maintenance operations. These services will be available not only on the national rail network operated by the Moroccan state railway ONCF but also on the urban transport networks of Casablanca and Rabat.
The operational launch will be supported by the experienced teams from Vossloh Services France and Futrifer, who have successfully collaborated in France since 2024. Looking ahead to 2027, the joint venture plans to hire and train Moroccan professionals, thereby reinforcing its regional presence and sustainably building local expertise.
Additionally, Vossloh is participating in an industry-wide initiative to establish a training center dedicated to the railway sector in Morocco. Marcel Taubert, Managing Director of Vossloh Rail Services, commented, "With the joint venture Vossloh Futrifer Services Maroc, we are strengthening our presence in North Africa and promoting sustainable mobility in one of the continent's most dynamic markets." Joaquim Dias Amaro, Vice President of Futrifer, added, "This new company opens up opportunities to gain experience in additional regions and strengthens Futrifer's internationalization through collaboration with Vossloh in the Rail Services sector."
Morocco is making substantial investments in expanding its railway network, with the "Morocco Rail Plan 2040" set to create up to 1,300 kilometers of high-speed lines. Vossloh has been operational in Morocco for several decades and received a major contract in 2024 for supplying rail fastening systems and switches for the construction of the new high-speed line between Casablanca and Marrakech.
