Weather Advisory: Thunderstorms and Hail Expected in Morocco

The General Directorate of Meteorology in Morocco has issued a warning to citizens, particularly those residing in mountainous areas, advising them to exercise caution due to the potential for thunderstorms and hail. The meteorological authority confirmed that the weather will be unstable tomorrow, Tuesday, with localized thunderstorms expected over the Rif, the High Atlas, the Middle Atlas, and the eastern region of the country.

According to the General Directorate of Meteorology, strong localized thunderstorms, accompanied by gusty winds and the possibility of hail, are anticipated in several provinces and regions across the kingdom starting today, Monday, and continuing until tomorrow morning. The meteorological agency has issued an orange alert, indicating that rainfall amounts could reach between 30 to 40 millimeters in areas such as Khémisset, Sidi Slimane, Khenifra, Khouribga, Fkih Ben Salah, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Settat, Marrakech, Kelaa of Sraghna, Al Haouz, and Rhamna. This weather event is expected to occur today, Monday, April 27, 2026, from 14:00 to 23:00.

Furthermore, the agency highlighted that rainfall amounts between 25 to 30 millimeters are expected in regions such as Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Driouch, Taza, and Taounate, from Monday, April 27, 2026, at 18:00 until Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 06:00. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and prepared for these weather conditions.
