Weather Alert: Heatwave and Thunderstorms Expected in Fes-Meknes Region

The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a weather alert predicting a heatwave starting today, September 3, 2026, and continuing until September 4, 2026, across several areas in the Fes-Meknes region. This alert, categorized as an "Orange" warning level, indicates that temperatures are expected to range between 42°C and 45°C in various provinces including Oued Ed-Dahab, Smara, Rachidia, Assa-Zag, Boujdour, Oussard, Wazan, Larache, Taounate, Moulay Yacoub, Fes, Meknes, Fkih Ben Saleh, Beni Mellal, Khmissat, Rahamna, Marrakech, Qalaa Saraghna, Sidi Slimane, Sidi Kacem, Kenitra, Zagora, and Tata.

Moreover, temperatures are anticipated to fluctuate between 38°C and 42°C in the provinces of Youssoufia, Rabat, Salé, Khénifra, Taroudant, Khouribga, Settat, Chichaoua, and Sidi Bennour during the same period. The Directorate also forecasts thunderstorms with accumulated rainfall ranging from 20 to 40 mm, potentially accompanied by hail and gusty winds, particularly in the provinces of Oued Ed-Dahab and Oussard starting today at 3 PM until tomorrow at 6 AM.

Additionally, thunderstorms are expected today in provinces such as Qalaa Saraghna, Al Haouz, Azilal, Chichaoua, Rahamna, and Marrakech, with rainfall accumulations projected between 15 to 25 mm, beginning from 2 PM until 11 PM.
