The Moroccan General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has issued a warning for a significant heat wave coupled with thunderstorms, including hail and strong winds, anticipated from Sunday to Tuesday across various regions of the Kingdom. This forecast indicates that temperatures will soar between 42°C and 46°C in provinces such as Assa-Zag, Tata, Boujdour, Oued Ed-Dahab, Aousserd, Es-Semara, and Zagora during this period.
Furthermore, other provinces including Tan-Tan, Skhirate-Témara, Khémisset, Rehamna, Ouezzane, Larache, Taounate, El Kelâa des Sraghna, Laâyoune, Guelmim, Settat, Khouribga, Sidi Slimane, Sidi Kacem, Kénitra, Taroudant, Fquih Ben Salah, Béni Mellal, and Salé will experience temperatures ranging from 38°C to 42°C on Sunday and Monday. These conditions necessitate heightened awareness as the DGM has categorized the weather alert at an orange vigilance level.
Thunderstorms and Hail Expected in Multiple Regions
In addition to the extreme heat, severe thunderstorms accompanied by hail and wind gusts are forecasted to impact several provinces. Specifically, from 14:00 to 23:00 on Sunday, areas such as Azilal, Boulemane, Rehamna, Marrakech, El Kelâa des Sraghna, Chichaoua, Al Haouz, Settat, Khouribga, Taroudant, Ouarzazate, Figuig, Midelt, Khénifra, Ifrane, Fquih Ben Salah, and Béni Mellal can expect rainfall between 25 mm to 35 mm. Consequently, residents in these areas are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during these adverse weather conditions.
