Weather Forecast: What to Expect This Week

Weather Conditions This Week in Morocco

This week, the weather in Morocco will be characterized by significant fluctuations in temperature and occasional stormy weather. Currently, convective clouds are forming over the Oriental region and the eastern Middle Atlas, leading to local thunderstorms, which may even include hail. This instability is also affecting the South-East and the extreme southern regions of the country, as reported by the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).

Temperatures are expected to soar, reaching between 39°C and 46°C in the South-East and the eastern regions, while the interior plains will experience highs ranging from 34°C to 39°C. In contrast, cooler temperatures between 18°C and 26°C will prevail in the mountainous areas and along the coast. As we move into Monday, these thunderstorm disturbances will persist over the Middle Atlas and southern Oriental areas, with a slight decrease in temperatures anticipated in the south and northern plains.

Ongoing Weather Challenges

On Tuesday, the instability will continue to manifest in the Middle Atlas and the Oriental region. Morning and evening fog, along with low clouds, will likely develop over the Atlantic plains and the Mediterranean coast. Winds are expected to remain relatively strong in some areas of the southern provinces, the eastern region, and the central plains, possibly leading to dusty conditions.

As the week progresses, the hot to very hot conditions will persist in the southern provinces, the South-East, and the interior plains. Cumulus clouds will linger over the Atlas mountains, and recurrent gusts of wind are forecasted for the southern provinces, the eastern region, and the Tangier area. The DGM advises residents to avoid direct sun exposure during midday in hotter areas, stay well-hydrated, exercise caution when traveling in foggy or dusty conditions, and remain vigilant near rivers and slopes in the event of thunderstorms.
