In its seventh edition, the Moroccan Competition for Local Products proudly recognized outstanding achievements in the realm of Moroccan agricultural products on Saturday at the International Agriculture Fair in Meknes. This event, organized by the Agricultural Development Agency, is part of the ongoing support provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to enhance the value of local products and support producer groups. The awards ceremony was notable for its impressive array of accolades, with a total of 455 medals distributed, including 134 gold, 141 silver, and 180 bronze. Recognizing Innovation and Quality
A special award for innovation was presented to the "Amine" cooperative from the Marrakech-Safi region for their unique "Argan Oil with Organic Saffron," showcasing their innovative approach to product development. This initiative aims to appreciate and spotlight the efforts of local product producers, emphasizing their expertise and dedication to quality. As announced by Mahjouba Chkil, Director of Local Product Marketing Development at the Agricultural Development Agency, this edition showcased 1,375 products from various regions across the kingdom.
After thorough evaluation by the jury, seven excellence awards were granted for various products, including Argan Oil from the "Boukhdo Akramoud" cooperative, Olive Oil from the "Agereswak" cooperative, Thyme Honey from the "Agdez" cooperative, and several others, reflecting the rich agricultural heritage of Morocco. The Moroccan Products Competition, initiated in 2014 by the Ministry of Agriculture, is now considered a vital mechanism for enhancing local product value, boosting competitiveness among producers, and promoting offerings that meet national and international market demands.
Winners expressed their gratitude and emphasized that these awards serve as motivation to continue innovating while preserving the national agricultural heritage. Fatima Zahra Amine, president of the "Amine" cooperative, expressed her pride in receiving the award, stating that it represents a significant boost for the thirty female producers in the Essaouira region. Meanwhile, Mohamed Skourai, president of the "Agereswak" cooperative, highlighted that winning the quality olive oil award is the result of dedicated work and strict adherence to legal standards. The sentiment among the winners is that these accolades not only recognize their hard work but also encourage continual improvement and excellence in product quality.
