Winners Announced for the 56th Morocco Book Award 2025

56th Morocco Book Award Winners Revealed

The Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication in Morocco has officially announced the winners of the prestigious 56th Morocco Book Award for the year 2025, following the completion of the committees responsible for reviewing and evaluating the nominated books and manuscripts. This annual award recognizes outstanding literary contributions across various categories.

According to a statement released by the ministry, the Poetry Award was jointly awarded to Moukhlis Al-Saghir for his collection titled "The Contaminated Earth," published by the Arab Institute for Studies and Publishing in Beirut, and to Munir Al-Sarhani for his collection "I Forgot Your Shoes, Father," published by Khutoot wa Dhilal Publishing and Distribution in Amman.

In the Narrative category, the award was shared between Anis Al-Rafii for his book "They All Speak from My Mouth," released by Khutoot wa Dhilal Publishing and Distribution in Amman, and Jamal Bendahmane for his novel "The Ordeal of the Son of the Tongue," published by Afrique Orient in Casablanca.

The award for Human Sciences was also jointly awarded to Abdelkader Malouk for his book "The Philosophy of Moses Maimonides and the Influence of Islamic Thought on It: A Study in Ethics and Interpretation," published by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies in Beirut, alongside Ibrahim Majidila for his work "Humanistic Tendencies in the Personalism of Mohammed Aziz Al-Hababai," also published by the same center in Beirut.

Furthermore, the Literary, Artistic, and Linguistic Studies Award was granted to Abdel-Hali Damianni for his book "The Discourse of Otherness in the French Journey to Morocco: Parts 1 and 2," published by the Educational Publishing and Distribution Company in Casablanca. Meanwhile, the Translation Award was bestowed upon Jamal Abrnouss for his translation from French to Arabic of the book "A Study in Berber Literature" by Henri Bassi, published by the Royal Institute for Amazigh Culture.

In the field of Amazigh culture studies, the award went to Fatima Chabli for her book "The Assimilation of Coronals in the Amazigh Dialect of the Ayt Sgougou (Middle Atlas)," published by the Royal Institute for Amazigh Culture. The Amazigh Literature Award was awarded to Ait Saleh for his novel "ⵙⴰ ⵉⵖⵎⴰⵥ ⵉ ⵎⴰⴹⵏ ⵉⵎⴰⵏ" (Seven Colors of Discontent), published by the Tira Association, a collective of Amazigh writers.

The Children's and Young Adults' Literature Award was shared between Abdul Latif Ait Nila for his book "The Depressing Golden Needle and Other Stories," published by Afaq Foundation in Marrakech, and Ahmed Al-Sabia for his book "An Empty Photo Album," published by Shaan Publishing and Distribution in Amman.

It was also announced that the Social Sciences Award would not be awarded this year. The committees for the award were chaired by Abdullah Saaf, with subcommittees being led by Hassan Makhafi (Poetry category), Chaib Halifi (Narrative category), Ahmed Shawqi Benben (Human Sciences category), Idris Karawi (Social Sciences category), Nour Eddine Al-Zouitni (Translation category), Hassan Bahrawi (Literary, Artistic, and Linguistic Studies category), Karim Ben Skas (Amazigh Literature and Studies category), and Abdul Samii Bensaber (Children's and Young Adults' Literature category).

It is noteworthy that the number of accepted nominated books for the 56th Morocco Book Award in 2025 reached 162 works, distributed across categories including Poetry (18), Narrative (32), Human Sciences (27), Social Sciences (17), Literary, Artistic, and Linguistic Studies (25), Translation (11), Amazigh Culture Studies (5), Amazigh Literature (10), and Children’s and Young Adults’ Literature (17).
