Exciting Final Awaits at WTA Rabat

The WTA Rabat tournament is gearing up for an exhilarating final as Anhelina Kalinina squares off against Petra Marcinko. In the semi-finals, Kalinina, currently ranked 29 years old, delivered an impressive performance against Hungary's Panna Udvardy, the 7th seed and 68th in the world, winning decisively with a score of 6-0, 6-3 in just one hour. Meanwhile, Marcinko, the 6th seed, also advanced smoothly, overcoming Switzerland's Jill Teichmann (WTA 207) with a score of 7-6 (7/2), 6-3. This final marks a significant moment for both players, each on their own journey in the competitive world of women's tennis.

Anhelina Kalinina is still in search of her first title at an ATP 250 tournament or higher. Despite having secured victories at the WTA 125 events in Limoges in 2022 and 2025, as well as at the WTA 125 in Antalya last March, she has faced challenges in higher-tier finals. She reached the finals in Budapest at the WTA 250 level in 2021 and again in the WTA 1,000 event in Rome in 2023, but unfortunately fell short in both matches. On the other hand, at just 20 years old, Petra Marcinko is yet to taste a final at the WTA 250 level, although she did clinch the title at the 125 event in Rome on clay in July 2025, showcasing her potential and talent.

Belgium's Representation at WTA Rabat

In singles competition, Hanne Vandewinkel was the sole representative from Belgium, but her journey ended in the first round. However, there's still hope for Belgian tennis as Magali Kempen (WTA D-77) and her partner from Hong Kong, Eudice Chong (WTA D-78), are set to compete in the doubles final against the top-seeded duo comprising Indonesian Aldila Sutjiadi (WTA D-48) and Russian Vera Zvonareva (WTA D-35). This final will take place on Friday, adding an extra layer of excitement to the tournament as the stakes rise for both singles and doubles competitors.
