Wydad Casablanca's Coaching Change Amidst Crisis
In a surprising turn of events, Wydad Casablanca has officially parted ways with head coach Patrice Carteron after an underwhelming performance that saw the team struggle significantly in the Moroccan league. Following a disappointing home defeat to US Yacoub El Mansour, which marked their seventh consecutive match without a win, the decision to dismiss Carteron became inevitable. Just 24 hours after the painful defeat, Wydad Casablanca announced the termination of Carteron’s contract through an official statement, highlighting that the decision was mutually agreed upon. In light of this situation, the club has appointed Mohamed Benchrifa as the interim coach until the end of the season. Benchrifa, who previously served as an assistant to notable coaches such as Faouzi Benzarti and Walid Regragui, is familiar with the club and is expected to bring a new perspective and strategy to the team. He will be supported by Youssef Achami, with Idriss Wajou taking on the role of physical trainer and Tarek Jarmouni overseeing goalkeepers.
