Wydad Casablanca Pulls Off a Stunning Comeback
Wydad Casablanca delivered an electrifying performance by clinching a thrilling victory against their hosts, Union Touwargah, with a score of 4-3 in a match held at the "City" Stadium in Rabat. This clash was part of the 15th round of the national professional football league, and it showcased Wydad's remarkable resilience as they overturned an early deficit to secure a dramatic win in the dying moments of the game.
Union Touwargah came out strong, showcasing their determination with Mohammed Amin Sahil scoring the opening goal in the 13th minute. They doubled their lead shortly after, with Nasr Eddin Mistaghfir finding the back of the net in the 16th minute, putting Wydad in a challenging position early in the match.
In response to the unfolding situation, Wydad's coach, Mohamed Amin Benhashim, made significant tactical changes, substituting Hamza Al-Hanouri and Salah Eddine Musadek for Mohamed Bouchouari and Naeem Biar in the 29th minute. As the first half approached its conclusion, French forward Wissam Ben Yedder managed to reduce the deficit for Wydad, scoring in the 43rd minute, thus ending the first half with Union Touwargah leading 2-1.
However, the second half began with more challenges for the red team when Fouad Al-Zahwani scored the third goal for Union Touwargah, complicating the task for Benhashim's squad. Yet, Wydad increased their pressure in the final minutes of the match, and Walid Al-Sabbar found the net with an exquisite strike, bringing the score to 3-2.
Even after suffering a setback with the red card issued to Walid Nasi in the 83rd minute for a second yellow card, Wydad continued to press the home team. Their persistence paid off when Hamza Al-Hanouri equalized in stoppage time at 90+4 minutes. Just two minutes later, Salah Eddine Musadek scored a last-gasp winner at 90+6, sealing a hard-fought victory and securing three crucial points for Wydad, raising their total to 29 points and placing them second in the standings. In contrast, Union Touwargah remained at 9 points, sitting in the fourteenth position.
