Wydad Casablanca's Goalkeeper Injury Poses Challenge for Coach Carteron

Injury Woes for Wydad's First Choice Goalkeeper

The head coach of Wydad Casablanca, Patrice Carteron, is facing a critical situation as the club's first-choice goalkeeper, Mehdi Benabid, is likely to miss the upcoming match against Kawkab Marrakech due to an injury sustained during the game against Morocco Fassi. A reliable source within the club has revealed that the medical staff has recommended that Benabid refrain from participating in team training sessions to avoid aggravating his injury. Instead, he has been assigned a specialized training regimen since Monday.

Furthermore, the medical team is intensifying their efforts to ensure that Benabid is fit to compete against Kawkab Marrakech, especially in light of the absence of backup goalkeeper Abdelali Mohammedi, who is sidelined with a rib fracture incurred during the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals against Olympique Safi. Currently, Wydad Casablanca ranks second in the professional league, tied on points with both Royal Army and Raja Casablanca, just one point behind the league leaders, Morocco Fassi.

Coach Carteron has struggled to secure a win with Wydad in the last three matches, which has hindered the red team's chance to maintain their position at the top of the league standings.
