Young Author Nour Al-Huda Damraoui Publishes 'Epic of the Past'

Young Moroccan Talent Releases Debut Novel

Nour Al-Huda Damraoui, a thirteen-year-old Moroccan student, has made waves in the literary world with the release of her first novel, titled "Epic of the Past." This remarkable achievement is a culmination of her extensive reading and the encouragement she received from her family, school, and national reading initiatives, where she competed with peers in fostering a love for literature and reading.

According to a statement provided by her father, Idris Damraoui, the spark that ignited her writing journey can be attributed to her Arabic language teacher, Dr. Mohamed Asrar, during her first year of middle school in the city of Missour. He noted, "Nour Al-Huda's writing journey began with the 'National Reading Project' and the 'Arab Reading Challenge,' where she qualified nationally on two occasions. She earned the title of the Arabic speech champion for the Fez-Meknes region, consistently excelling in both reading and her studies. Additionally, she represented the Boulemane province in the children's parliament."

Her father elaborated on the initiatives that nurtured her passion for writing, sharing, "In the sixth grade, she contributed an article to her school's publication, which sparked the idea of writing. The following year, while starting middle school, she was an avid reader of novels, and under the guidance of her teacher, Asrar, her national qualifications and first-place finish in the national reading project encouraged her to transition from reading to writing. This dedication resulted in her novel, 'Epic of the Past,' and she continues to work on two additional novels."

Beyond her endeavors in novel writing, Nour has also contributed articles to various online magazines, including "The Letter and Word Magazine" and "Naples Cultural Magazine," along with other narrative writings. The encouragement to publish her debut novel came from the "National Human Rights Association" in the Fez region, aimed at fostering youthful creativity. Furthermore, her teacher Asrar sent the manuscript of her novel to Dar Kounouz Al-Ma'arifa, which reviewed and subsequently published it.

In her new novel, readers find poignant reflections encapsulated in phrases such as: "He smiled a bitter smile, mocking himself. He took the pen and began to write, but he was not merely writing words. He was writing his pain, documenting his shattered hopes, and chronicling pivotal moments in a life crushed by reality. He wrote about the first encounter, the desires hidden behind words, the laughter that once filled the air, and that fateful day he discovered that all he had dreamed of was just a false dream."
