Duck Derby Returns to Mesquite, Supporting Local Families in Need

Exciting Community Event in Mesquite

On Saturday, October 24, 2026, the charming city of Mesquite will once again host its annual Duck Derby, an event that not only promises fun but also aims to make a significant impact on the lives of families battling cancer. Taking place from noon to 2 p.m. at the picturesque CasaBlanca Resort pool, this year’s event features thrilling pink duck races, along with an array of prizes, raffles, and engaging games. The Duck Derby is organized by Mesquite Entertainment and proceeds from the event will benefit Hearts of Hope, a dedicated local nonprofit that provides essential support to individuals and families affected by cancer.

Making a Difference Together

Jami Taylor, the employee and community engagement manager for Mesquite Entertainment, emphasized the significance of the Duck Derby, stating, "The Duck Derby is more than just a fun community event. It’s an opportunity for Mesquite to come together and make a real difference in the lives of local families affected by cancer." Taylor expressed pride in hosting this event, highlighting how each duck adopted symbolizes support for community members navigating the challenges of cancer. The collaboration with Hearts of Hope underscores the community's commitment to compassion and assistance during difficult times.

Hearts of Hope, which emerged from the dissolution of Warrior Women, is led by passionate directors Beth Caplinger, Nova Mastrogiovanni, and Linda Beymer. Their mission is to provide encouragement and tangible help to those facing cancer. They actively engage with the Mesquite Cancer HELP Society, fostering community relationships to enhance their outreach and assistance capabilities. The organization also facilitates monthly peer support gatherings for individuals and families, creating a welcoming atmosphere for sharing experiences and finding encouragement.

To support the cause, attendees can purchase duck adoption tickets priced at $20 each or six for $100. The race will feature exciting prizes, including $1,000 for the first place winner, $600 for second, and $400 for third. Additional prizes include a dining experience at Katherine’s Steakhouse for fourth place and a family fun basket for fifth place. Notably, participants do not need to be present to win, making this a convenient way for the community to get involved.

Duck adoption tickets can be conveniently purchased at various local establishments, including the CasaBlanca Resort and Virgin River Casino gift shops, as well as the pro shops at CasaBlanca and Palms golf courses. The event not only aims to entertain but also reiterates the tradition of neighbors helping neighbors in Mesquite, with every adopted duck representing hope and support for families facing cancer.
