A catastrophic fire erupted on the evening of Wednesday, October 21, 2026, within a warehouse belonging to the waste management company "Arma" located in the Sidi Yusuf Ben Ali area of Marrakech. This incident resulted in considerable material losses and prompted a wide-scale security response; fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
The flames began to rise around 6:35 PM from inside the facility, which lacked security monitoring at that time. The warehouse was primarily used for storing waste containers, machinery, and vehicles utilized in the cleanliness management of the district. Upon notification, local authorities and civil protection units swiftly arrived at the scene to contain the fire.
Despite the challenges faced by the firefighting teams due to the accumulation of metal containers and their secure closures, they managed to encircle and extinguish the blaze completely, preventing it from spreading to nearby industrial facilities and storage units.
Initial assessments indicated that the losses were strictly material, with approximately 50 new waste containers and 150 used containers destroyed by the fire, alongside damage to several handcarts intended for sanitation workers.
As the extinguishing and cooling operations concluded, security services commenced a judicial investigation under the supervision of the relevant public prosecution to ascertain the causes and exact circumstances surrounding this incident.
