DXN Launches First North African Supplements Factory in Meknès, Morocco

DXN's Bold Move into North Africa

In a significant development for Morocco's industrial landscape, the Malaysian company DXN has officially commenced construction of its first North African dietary supplements factory in Meknès. This ambitious project is backed by an impressive investment of 161 million dirhams (approximately $17 million), aimed at creating around 250 direct jobs by the end of 2028. The announcement, made on October 23, 2026, follows the expiration of a protocol agreement with the Moroccan government on October 2, 2026. This agreement, initially signed in May 2024, was intended to guide discussions regarding the impending establishment of the factory.

Despite the expiration of the protocol, DXN swiftly moved forward with their plans. The company confirmed it had received the necessary construction permit and officially broke ground at the Agropolis industrial park in Meknès. Spanning an expansive area of 80,765 square meters, the facility is set to produce products derived from spirulina and ganoderma, a type of mushroom renowned for its health benefits and widely used in dietary supplements. The strategic location in Morocco not only caters to the North African market but also positions DXN to expand its reach into Europe and potentially the Middle East.

Strategic Goals and Future Prospects

DXN has identified Morocco as its primary African market, and the establishment of a local manufacturing facility is a strategic move to optimize supply chain logistics and mitigate costs. The company's global ambition is to expand its manufacturing footprint from 14 to 21 factories worldwide. The local subsidiary, Dexin Morocco, is tasked with overseeing this significant investment and ensuring the successful launch of the factory.

The recent developments signal a positive outlook for the Moroccan economy, particularly in the context of foreign investment in the region. Although the preliminary protocol with the Moroccan authorities has lapsed, DXN has reassured stakeholders that negotiations regarding the final investment agreement are ongoing. This agreement is crucial as it will outline the subsidies and incentives associated with the project.

With the construction officially underway, the focus now shifts to finalizing the financial support terms provided by the Moroccan government, which will play a vital role in the project’s success. The establishment of DXN’s factory in Meknès not only promises to boost local employment but also enhances Morocco's standing as a burgeoning hub for manufacturing and technological innovation in North Africa.
