Fes to Introduce a Scenic Cable Car Project for Tourists

Introducing a Scenic Cable Car in Fes

The Regional Investment Center of the Fes-Meknes region has taken a significant step towards enhancing tourism by announcing a call for expressions of interest for the design, construction, and operation of a cable car project in the city of Fes. This initiative aims to attract both national and international companies and investors interested in developing this innovative transportation solution.

The primary objective of this project is to establish a cable car system that complements existing transportation methods while providing breathtaking panoramic views of the historic old city of Fes. This endeavor is designed to ensure that the project aligns with the cultural heritage and aesthetic integrity of the ancient city and its surroundings, thereby promoting a seamless integration of modern amenities within the historical context.

The call for expressions of interest will be conducted in two consecutive phases. The first phase involves a preliminary selection based on references and technical feasibility studies, including an initial financial analysis. In the second phase, a final selection will be made from the initially shortlisted candidates based on a comprehensive proposal.

It is essential for applicants to submit their documentation for the first phase of preliminary selection by January 1, 2027. Currently, the only operational cable car in Morocco is located in Agadir, constructed by the Swiss-Austrian company "Garaventa Doppelmayr," which specializes in cable transport solutions.
