The National Office of Railways (ONCF) has awarded Jet Contractors a significant contract valued at 437.6 million dirhams, excluding tax, for the construction of a high-speed train station and four regional stations along the Benguerir-Marrakech corridor. This substantial project is set to enhance the transportation infrastructure in Morocco, specifically targeting the connectivity between key urban areas.
The contract includes the development of the high-speed train station in the Green City of Benguerir, along with four additional stations that are part of the upcoming regional express network. These stations will be strategically located in the Green City, Sidi Bouathmane, Sidi Ghanem, and the Grand Stadium of Marrakech. Notably, the awarded amount exceeds the ONCF’s initial estimate by 13.6%, which was set at 385.24 million dirhams.
This award follows an initial unsuccessful bidding process, prompting a re-launch of the tender with a new deadline established for September 24, 2026. Jet Contractors is already actively involved in the construction of the Kénitra-Marrakech high-speed rail line, where they are responsible for the civil engineering segment connecting Benguerir to the Palmeraie of Marrakech.
The proposed high-speed rail line, stretching approximately 430 kilometers, is designed to significantly cut travel times between Tangier and Marrakech to under three hours. This ambitious initiative is part of Morocco's national railway program for 2024-2030, which has an allocation of 96 billion dirhams, of which 53 billion dirhams are specifically earmarked for the infrastructure and facilities along the Kénitra-Marrakech route. As of now, the ONCF has not provided a timeline for the operational launch of the five stations.
