Strengthening Military Ties: Moroccan Delegation Visits Mauritania
A military delegation from Morocco's Royal Air Academy, led by Colonel Khalid Khabouzi, recently embarked on an important visit to the Air Force Academy in Atar, Mauritania. This significant event took place on October 20th and 21st, as announced by the Mauritanian army in an official statement released yesterday.
During this visit, the Moroccan delegation had the opportunity to gain insights into the operations and responsibilities of the Mauritanian institution, particularly its role in training pilot officers and technical non-commissioned officers specializing in aviation. The visit included a comprehensive program featuring a presentation on the academy's missions and training pathways, followed by a tour of its various facilities. The Moroccan delegation was able to inspect the flight simulator, training management services, classrooms, and training aircraft, providing them with a holistic view of the academy's capabilities.
Furthermore, discussions between the two parties focused on the prospects for bilateral military cooperation, especially in the area of aerial training. This visit is part of ongoing efforts to exchange expertise and bolster military collaboration between Morocco and Mauritania, particularly in training and educational frameworks. Notably, a delegation from the Royal Armed Forces had arrived in Nouakchott on October 20th, specializing in military medicine, showcasing the depth of cooperation between the two nations. Previously, in September, another delegation from the Royal Armed Forces visited Nouakchott, and in April 2026, the sixth session of the joint military committee between Morocco and Mauritania was held in the Mauritanian capital, further solidifying their partnership.
