FIFA Launches Evaluation Tours for the 2030 World Cup
In a significant announcement made today, the International Football Federation (FIFA) revealed its plans to embark on a series of inspection tours across cities and stadiums nominated to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. This tour will cover Spain, Portugal, and notably Morocco, scheduled for November and December of this year. The primary objective of these inspections is to assess the readiness of the selected venues and ensure they meet the necessary organizational and technical requirements to host this prestigious global event.
A dedicated FIFA delegation will visit key cities and stadiums in the three countries to evaluate their preparedness. As anticipation builds, it remains unclear which venues will ultimately be selected, particularly as the competition heats up between Morocco and Spain to secure the honor of hosting the final match of the tournament.
The inspection will include significant Moroccan cities such as Agadir, Casablanca, Fes, Marrakech, Rabat, and Tangier, along with visits to Lisbon and Porto in Portugal, and major cities in Spain including Barcelona, Bilbao, Las Palmas, Madrid, San Sebastián, Seville, and Zaragoza. FIFA has also indicated that additional stadiums may be added to the visit program as part of the evaluation process.
FIFA clarified that the distribution of matches and the classification of the confrontations to be hosted by each city will not be finalized until the official list of venues and host cities is confirmed, alongside the completion of the tournament's match schedule. It is worth noting that the opening matches of this World Cup will take place in Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, celebrating a century since the inaugural tournament held in Uruguay in 1930.
