Morocco Dominates U15 World Cup, Cameroon Advances to League A, Senegal Reflects on Missed Opportunities

In a thrilling conclusion to the group stage of the U15 World Cup held in Hövsan, Azerbaijan, Morocco has emerged as a dominant force, finishing the round with a perfect record. The Moroccan U15 national team, known as the Lionceaux de l'Atlas, showcased their prowess by decisively defeating Curaçao with a resounding score of 7-0, followed by another impressive victory over Liberia with a final score of 5-1. This remarkable performance allowed Morocco to top Group F with a flawless 15 points, having secured victories against the Philippines (2-0), Costa Rica (4-2), and Belize (6-0). Consequently, they not only advance to the second round of the tournament but also earn a spot in League A, fueling hopes for a historic championship run in this inaugural edition of the U15 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Cameroon also secured its place in League A after finishing at the top of Group K. The Indomitable Lionceaux demonstrated their competitive spirit by overcoming Senegal with a 3-0 victory. Despite an earlier setback against India (2-1), the team rebounded strongly, defeating Grenada (4-1) and Bahrain (2-0) to seize the first position in the group standings. This achievement places Cameroon ahead of Senegal, which finished second due to head-to-head results. Senegal, led by coach Ousmane Diop, experienced a rollercoaster tournament but managed to recover from their initial defeat, stringing together an impressive series of victories, including a 6-1 win against India. However, they will now compete in League B, alongside the Ivory Coast, which also qualified for the same level earlier in the day.

On the other hand, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (RDC) managed to regain some composure after suffering three consecutive losses earlier in the tournament. With a narrow victory against Guinea-Bissau (1-0) and a convincing win over Nepal (4-0), the Léopardeaux now aim to secure the 97th position in League D. This turnaround offers a glimmer of hope for the team, despite the challenges faced in previous matches against formidable opponents like El Salvador, Tunisia, and Brazil.
