Rabat-Salé Airport Implements Automated Baggage Drop System

Automated Baggage Drop System Enhances Traveler Experience at Rabat-Salé Airport

In an exciting development for travelers in Morocco, Rabat-Salé Airport has become the first airport in the country to roll out the automated baggage drop system known as 'Self Bag Drop.' This initiative is set to enhance the efficiency of airport operations and improve the overall experience for passengers. Announced by Airports of Morocco, this new technology will gradually be implemented across all airports in the Kingdom, following a successful initial launch with Royal Air Maroc at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca.

The introduction of six self-service baggage drop kiosks at Terminal 2 of Rabat-Salé Airport marks a significant step towards modernizing the check-in process. These kiosks are initially available for Ryanair passengers, allowing them to independently manage their baggage once they have checked in. This innovation not only aims to reduce waiting times significantly—potentially by 50 to 75%—but also provides travelers with enhanced autonomy during their airport journey. With nearly two-thirds of passenger flows in Moroccan airports now impacted by this transformation, the implications for efficiency and passenger satisfaction are substantial.

The Self Bag Drop system is part of a broader initiative by Airports of Morocco to leverage digital technologies to streamline various airport processes. This includes the gradual implementation of mobile boarding passes and the Pax Check system, which together simplify every step of the journey from airport access to boarding. By prioritizing digitalization, Airports of Morocco is committed to providing high-quality service and improving the travel experience for millions of passengers each year. The advancements are indicative of the country's efforts to position itself as a leader in modern air travel services.
