Revitalizing Drarga: A 130 Million Dirham Project to Enhance Main Road Connectivity

Significant Infrastructure Development in Drarga

The rehabilitation of the main road in Drarga, located within the Agadir Ida Outanane prefecture, has officially commenced, with an estimated cost of approximately 130 million dirhams. Spanning a length of 6 kilometers, this ambitious project is expected to take around 18 months to complete, aiming to improve traffic flow, enhance safety for commuters, and bolster the overall appeal of this rapidly growing commune.

The initiative was launched by Saïd Amzazi, the wali of the Souss-Massa region, who was joined by local authority representatives and elected officials at the project’s inauguration. The main artery under renovation traverses the heart of Drarga, linking Tlat Izem to Aït Fassi while passing through Tagadirt. With a budget of nearly 130 million dirhams, the project promises to address longstanding infrastructural challenges in the area.

Benefits and Expectations from the Project

The execution of the rehabilitation works is being overseen by Al Omrane Souss-Massa. Hicham El Faleh, the general director of the company, has assured that the project will be executed to high standards, aligning with the expectations of local residents. The scope of work includes the refurbishment of sidewalks, the development of green spaces, and various enhancements aimed at improving the comfort of both residents and visitors. This investment is particularly noteworthy as Drarga has emerged as a significant industrial hub, selected for the industrial acceleration plan that was signed by King Mohammed VI in January 2018.

According to Mohamed El Ouanzari, the second vice-president of the commune, this development marks a "historic moment" for the community. Residents have long awaited improvements to the deteriorating main road, which has been the source of numerous issues and accidents. El Ouanzari praised the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders involved in bringing this project to fruition, highlighting its potential to greatly enhance the region's attractiveness as it continues to experience substantial population growth.

In a statement to _Le360_, El Ouanzari emphasized that the new road will alleviate transportation difficulties in the area, facilitating smoother commutes between Agadir and Drarga. It will also unlock access to numerous neighborhoods and increase land value, which will yield significant economic and social benefits for the community. He further noted the strategic importance of this route as it connects Drarga to National Road No. 11, ultimately linking to the Agadir-Marrakech motorway.

Local resident Rachid Belbouz also expressed his support for this vital road project, commending the personal oversight by the wali. The community is now looking forward to the next phase of development, which will extend connectivity between Tigmi Nboubker and Aït Baha, further advancing efforts to improve transportation and accessibility in the region.
