On October 25, 2026, significant advancements in air travel efficiency were announced for passengers flying with Ryanair from Rabat-Salé Airport in Morocco. Six new self-service kiosks have been installed, allowing travelers to check in their luggage independently, which is projected to save between 50% and 75% of the time typically spent on this process. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance airport services across Morocco, with expectations of extending this technology to additional airports in the near future.
Located in Terminal 2 of Rabat-Salé, these kiosks enable passengers who have already completed their online check-in to follow simple instructions displayed on the automated screens. The goal is to significantly reduce waiting times at baggage drop-off points, making the overall travel experience much smoother for flyers. This new system builds on a similar setup that was previously implemented at Casablanca-Mohammed V Airport, where self-service bag drop facilities were introduced for Royal Air Maroc travelers.
According to a statement from Airports of Morocco, formerly known as ONDA, the implementation of these kiosks not only speeds up the baggage drop process but also aligns with the company’s objectives to improve passenger flow at airports throughout the Kingdom. The introduction of self-service kiosks is a crucial step in the national rollout of this technology, which is expected to benefit nearly two-thirds of passenger traffic. In addition to enhancing the bag drop process, Airports of Morocco is also focusing on the expansion of mobile boarding passes and the Pax Check system, which aims to streamline passenger security checks.
Ryanair has specified that passengers departing from Morocco must complete their online check-in and collect their boarding passes from the airport counter. The airline emphasizes that online check-in closes two hours before the scheduled flight departure, and that airport counters will close one hour prior to takeoff. Previously, Rabat-Salé Airport had also announced plans for the installation of biometric kiosks for baggage handling, indicating a strong commitment to leveraging technology for improved airport operations.
