The enchanting city of Marrakech in Morocco has been identified as the leading destination for travelers during the All Saints' Day holiday, according to a recent study conducted by KAYAK.fr. As the autumn break for schoolchildren commences, this travel search engine has released an analysis of flight trends, showcasing both the enduring appeal of traditional destinations and the rising popularity of new hotspots, particularly in West Africa.
Marrakech continues to hold its prestigious position in the hearts of French travelers, remaining the most sought-after destination with an attractive average round-trip fare of €285. This figure represents a 5% decrease compared to 2025, making it the only location in the top ten to experience a drop in average ticket prices year-on-year. Following Marrakech, two major international cities complete the podium: London, UK, with an average ticket price of €140 (up 23%), and New York, USA, where the average fare stands at €578 (up 12%). The top ten most popular destinations also include other European capitals like Rome (€209), Barcelona (€154), Lisbon (€197), and Porto (€158), as well as long-haul favorites such as Tokyo (€1,175) and Bangkok (€755).
The KAYAK.fr study highlights a significant trend toward less conventional destinations, indicating a growing interest in locations that are not typically frequented by tourists. For instance, Abidjan in Côte d'Ivoire has witnessed an astonishing 175% increase in flight searches compared to the previous year, despite a 20% rise in the average ticket price to €685. Douala in Cameroon has also seen a surge, with flight searches increasing by 101%, and an average ticket price of €838 (up 65%). This attraction to new horizons extends beyond Africa, with Tbilissi, the capital of Georgia, seeing a 73% increase in searches (average ticket €451). Other cities displaying notable growth include Podgorica in Montenegro (+59%), Shanghai in China (+49%), and Espargos on the island of Sal in Cape Verde (+51%).
While prices are rising for many popular destinations, the analysis reveals significant decreases in fares for others, offering enticing alternatives for travelers. Alongside Marrakech, several European cities are becoming more affordable. Venice in Italy, for instance, has seen its average ticket price drop by 18% to €139, even as searches increase by 22%. Similarly, tickets to Málaga in Spain are priced at €189, reflecting an 11% decrease, while Faro in Portugal has seen a 7% drop in average prices (€213). Notably, some emerging destinations with skyrocketing popularity are also witnessing price reductions, such as Podgorica (-19% to €156), Espargos (-11% to €378), and Calvi in Corsica (-22% to €214), making these getaways even more attractive for prospective travelers.
This study is based on flight searches conducted on KAYAK.fr between April 1 and October 7, 2026, for travel dates scheduled from October 17 to November 2, 2026, compared to the same period in 2025.
