Warm Weather Forecast and Coastal Fog in Morocco Today

Morocco's Weather Outlook for Today

Today, Morocco is set to experience a warm climate, particularly in the southern regions, while coastal areas are likely to be shrouded in low clouds and fog. This weather update comes from the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM), which has provided insights into the atmospheric conditions expected across the nation. The DGM anticipates that the northern Atlantic coast, the Atlantic plains, and the Mediterranean shoreline will see morning and nighttime low clouds. Additionally, fog formations in these areas may lead to reduced visibility, affecting travel and outdoor activities.

Wind conditions will also play a role in today's weather, with moderate gusts expected to impact the southern provinces, causing localized blowing dust. While temperatures are predicted to rise across much of northern Morocco, a slight overall decrease is anticipated in the southern provinces. In the Atlas Mountains, the Rif, and the eastern high plateaus, minimum temperatures are expected to range from 4°C to 9°C. Meanwhile, the southern provinces and the Souss region will see minimum temperatures between 19°C and 28°C, with the southeastern region, including Chiadma, the Tadla plains, Rehamna, and the phosphate plateaus, recording minimums between 16°C and 19°C. Other areas throughout the country will experience lows ranging from 10°C to 16°C.

Temperature Expectations in Key Cities

In terms of temperatures for major cities across Morocco, the capital city of Rabat is expected to reach 25°C. Casablanca will be slightly warmer at 26°C, while Tangier will also hit 26°C. Kenitra is forecasted to record a high of 29°C, with Fez reaching 30°C and Meknes slightly warmer at 31°C. Marrakech is set to see the highest temperatures among major cities, with a forecast high of 33°C, while Agadir is expected to reach around 32°C.

Further south, the city of Laayoune is predicted to record a maximum temperature of 34°C. Es-Semara and Aousserd are expected to experience the highest temperatures in the forecast, reaching 37°C, while Dakhla will see a more moderate high of 31°C. Regarding maritime conditions, the Mediterranean Sea is likely to remain calm, while the Strait of Gibraltar and the waters between Cap Spartel and Larache will experience calm to slightly rough conditions. However, seas are expected to be rough between Casablanca and Tarfaya and will range from slightly rough to rough along other coastal stretches.
