22% of Wholesale Traders Anticipate Increase in Total Sales Volume

Positive Outlook for Wholesale Trade in 2026

According to the High Commission for Planning, 22% of wholesale traders are optimistic about an increase in their total sales volume for the first quarter of 2026. Additionally, 68% of traders expect their sales to remain stable. This information is highlighted in the Commission's quarterly economic outlook report, which focuses on the non-financial commercial services and wholesale trade sectors.

The anticipated growth in sales is primarily attributed to several factors. On one hand, there is an expected rise in sales volumes in categories such as wholesale food, beverages, and tobacco, as well as household goods and agricultural products including live animals. On the other hand, a decline is expected in sales of wholesale communication equipment and other specialized wholesale trading categories.

The report also notes that 79% of wholesale traders anticipate that their order books will maintain a normal level. Furthermore, 21% of these traders expect an increase in the number of jobs, while 77% foresee stability in employment levels within their businesses.

Looking back at the fourth quarter of 2025, 26% of business leaders reported an increase in wholesale trade sales in the domestic market, whereas 62% believed sales remained stable. This growth was largely driven by increases in sales of wholesale communication equipment and various industrial equipment, alongside other specialized wholesale goods. Conversely, sales of food, beverages, and tobacco saw a decline during this period.

In terms of employment, 86% of business leaders indicated stability, while 88% reported that their inventory levels were normal. Moreover, 32% of business leaders noted a potential decrease in selling prices, while 66% expected prices to remain unchanged.
