This ambitious initiative was the focal point of an extraordinary session of the Agadir municipal council held earlier this week at the Mohammed Khair-Eddine Cultural Complex. In a letter dated February 27, 2026, the governor of the Souss-Massa region urged the council president to expedite the approval of a partnership agreement for the stadium's construction, in accordance with Article 37 of the Organic Law 113.14. The stadium's design and execution will be overseen by the National Agency for Public Equipment (ANEP), ensuring adherence to the highest construction standards, including those set by FIFA in anticipation of the 2030 World Cup.
Financial Framework and Future Prospects
The financing for this pivotal project will be structured across two budgetary cycles (2026 and 2027), with a total investment of 300 million dirhams. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and the Ministry of Sports are each contributing 100 million dirhams, while the Souss-Massa region and the municipality of Agadir will provide additional support through land mobilization needed for the stadium's construction. This financial collaboration underscores a concerted effort among various governmental entities to enhance Morocco's sports infrastructure.
