Aida Expands Cruise Offerings from Hamburg with New Exotic Destinations

The renowned cruise line Aida is set to expand its itineraries departing from Hamburg, introducing thrilling new destinations that have yet to be explored by its vessels. This strategic move focuses on winter voyages, featuring an exciting journey into the Amazon, marking a significant milestone for the company.

For the first time ever, Aida will send its ship, the Aida Mar, to the breathtaking Amazon region. This extensive 44-day voyage begins in Hamburg and takes passengers on a remarkable journey through the Caribbean and into the heart of the Amazon, which includes several days at sea and a crossing of the equator. The itinerary also includes stops at the scenic islands of La Palma and Madeira. In addition, this winter cruise will see Aida's ships visiting more Atlantic islands than ever before.

However, this does not include the Canary Islands; instead, the focus will be on the captivating Azores. These volcanic islands are situated approximately 1,500 kilometers west of Gran Canaria and are renowned for their mild climate and lush landscapes. On this new route, the Aida Luna will embark from Hamburg, heading towards the Azorean islands of Terceira and São Miguel. On the return leg of the journey, there will be stops in Morocco and Portugal, culminating in a return to Hamburg after an enriching 22-day adventure.

Both of these exciting cruises feature the unique advantage of departing directly from Hamburg, eliminating the need for flights for holidaymakers. Aida has branded this travel format as "Große Winterpause" or "Great Winter Break." Currently, the cruise company, which is headquartered in Rostock, is significantly reducing its Orient voyages due to the ongoing geopolitical tensions in Iran. As a result, the 2026/2027 season featuring the Aida Prima has been entirely canceled due to the uncertain security situation, with this route now unavailable until spring 2027. Nevertheless, bookings for journeys to the Orient for the 2027/2028 season will reopen in January 2026.
