Algerian Authorities Foil Sabotage Plot Involving Moroccan Nationals

In a significant operation, Algerian security forces have successfully dismantled a sophisticated sabotage network, apprehending 61 Moroccan nationals, including a former military operative, who were allegedly plotting targeted acts of sabotage within the country. This operation was executed by the Direction Générale de la Sûreté Nationale (DGSN) and highlights a critical national security threat that was effectively neutralized before any harm could be inflicted.

The judicial police in Oran revealed that this international criminal network had infiltrated Algeria by traversing into the country from Tunisia. The operatives arrived in Tunis and subsequently navigated the challenging terrain, crossing the border near El Kala on foot. They maneuvered through treacherous mountain paths and dense forests, making their way westward to Oran with intentions to execute their disruptive plans. The investigative efforts not only led to the arrest of these individuals but also uncovered Moroccan passports and foreign currency, indicating the level of organization behind the operation.

As a result of this operation, all 61 suspects have been placed under judicial supervision and are set to face charges in Oran’s specialized criminal court, underscoring the commitment of Algerian authorities to maintaining safety and security within its borders. This incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by nations in securing their territories against external threats.
