Apply Now for Election Observation in Morocco

The National Human Rights Council (CNDH) has officially announced the opening of applications for individuals and organizations interested in conducting independent and neutral observation of Morocco's upcoming legislative elections, scheduled for September 2026. This application window will be open from April 27 to May 22, 2026, with a final review deadline set for June 17, as per the CNDH's announcement following the inaugural meeting of the special accreditation committee led by Amina Bouayach. Importantly, this opportunity is available not only to national observers but also to international entities who meet the necessary criteria.

According to the current regulations established by the CNDH, several types of organizations are eligible to participate in the election observation process. These include national institutions that are legally authorized, civil society organizations that are recognized for their commitment to promoting human rights and democratic values, and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that are legally constituted under their national laws and demonstrate a track record of independence and objectivity.

Submission Process for Applications

Organizations interested in observing the elections are required to submit their applications to the special accreditation committee. To facilitate this process, they can download the application form from the designated website, observationelections.cndh.ma, or directly from the CNDH's official site at cndh.ma. Completed forms should then be emailed to the provided email address: [email protected]. Additionally, there is an option for applicants to submit their applications in person at the Registration Office located at the CNDH headquarters.

It is crucial to note that national observers must adhere to specific guidelines; they are prohibited from being candidates in the elections they are observing, must be registered on the general electoral lists, and are required to sign a Charter that outlines the fundamental principles of independent and impartial observation. On the other hand, international observers must not only showcase prior experience in election observation but also sign the same Charter. Furthermore, any applications submitted by foreign NGOs must be made by their legal representatives to the committee, ensuring compliance with the established regulations and standards.
