Azerbaijan and Morocco Forge New Parliamentary Cooperation
A significant milestone in the diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Morocco has been achieved with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis and the House of Councillors of Morocco. This agreement signifies a robust commitment to enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation, reflecting the growing partnership between the two nations. During a productive working visit to Istanbul, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova engaged in discussions with Mohamed Ould Errachid, the chairman of Morocco's House of Councillors. Their dialogue centered on the current state of relations, underpinned by a mutual appreciation for the political dialogue that has flourished between Azerbaijan and Morocco.
Both parties expressed their satisfaction with the existing bilateral ties and reiterated the importance of mutual support within international organizations. They acknowledged that inter-parliamentary connections serve as a crucial mechanism for advancing their bilateral relations. Emphasizing the need for increased communication between parliamentary committees and friendship groups, Gafarova and Errachid highlighted essential platforms such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, which play pivotal roles in fortifying inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The signing of the memorandum is expected to provide a framework for broader institutional cooperation, enhancing the collaboration between various committees and friendship groups within the parliaments.
