The Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo has highlighted that Barcelona's management has not yet made an official announcement regarding the match, even though the necessary arrangements were completed earlier. The club is currently awaiting an assessment of the situation in the coming days before making a final decision on whether the match will proceed.
According to the same source, Barcelona is opting to exercise caution and refraining from any official statements at this moment, due to the sensitive nature of the current circumstances that could impact the organization of the match. Should the situation improve, the match will take place as planned on August 15 in Tangier. However, the option for cancellation remains on the table if the current conditions do not change.
If it is confirmed that the friendly match against IR Tanger will be canceled, Barcelona will continue its preparations for the new season by participating in a three-team friendly tournament in Udine, Italy, on August 8, where they are set to face Udinese and Nottingham Forest in two 45-minute matches as part of the training program devised by coach Hans Flick.
Following this tournament, the Catalan team will play the Joan Gamper Trophy match against Al Ahly on August 19, before officially kicking off their La Liga campaign with a match against Elche on August 23.
