Strengthening Workplace Safety at BCP
The Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP) has successfully obtained the ISO 45001 certification for its historic headquarters, Zerktouni, and the Diouri Data Center located in Casablanca. This significant achievement reinforces the bank's commitment to enhancing health and safety measures in the workplace and its proactive approach to preventing occupational risks.
Following an in-depth audit conducted by AFNOR, this certification validates the compliance of BCP's occupational health and safety management system with international standards and Moroccan regulations. This milestone reflects the bank's diligent efforts to identify and assess workplace risks associated with its activities and environments. Moreover, BCP's strategy encompasses the implementation of preventive and protective measures, alongside training and awareness initiatives designed for its employees.
A Culture of Prevention
In addition to the aforementioned efforts, BCP's framework includes regular performance monitoring and a commitment to continuous improvement. The overarching goal is to foster a prevention-oriented culture that actively involves all stakeholders within the organization. The management system established by BCP aligns with the principles outlined in the C155 and C187 conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO), both of which have been ratified by Morocco. The C155 convention focuses on the safety and health of workers, while C187 pertains to the promotional framework for occupational health and safety.
This certification is a continuation of the bank's initiatives aimed at enhancing management practices and operational performance. It is noteworthy that in December 2024, both the Zerktouni headquarters and the Diouri Data Center received a renewal of the ISO 50001 certification, which pertains to energy management.
Looking ahead, BCP plans to gradually expand the scope of ISO 45001 certification to additional infrastructures, with the BCP Tower at Casablanca Finance City being one of the next sites targeted for this initiative. Through this expansion, the bank aims to further structure its occupational health and safety management system by integrating risk prevention and employee safety into its sustainable performance strategy.
