Enhancing Primary Healthcare Services in Morocco
In a significant move to enhance primary healthcare services across the nation, the Moroccan Ministry of Health and Social Protection has officially inaugurated 15 new healthcare facilities in six regions. This initiative, which took place on a Tuesday, follows extensive rehabilitation and equipping efforts aimed at improving health service delivery. The newly opened facilities are strategically located in the regions of Béni Mellal-Khénifra, Marrakech-Safi, Oriental, Casablanca-Settat, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceïma, and Guelmim-Oued Noun, as part of a broader national program to upgrade a total of 1,600 primary healthcare establishments, with 500 targeted for completion by the end of 2026.
Impact and Services Offered
Among the newly opened facilities, Béni Mellal-Khénifra has added four new structures, while Marrakech-Safi features five, all situated within the province of Chichaoua. The Oriental region has received three new establishments, and both Casablanca-Settat and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceïma each welcome one new facility. Additionally, a specialized center for tuberculosis and respiratory diseases has been established in Guelmim, further strengthening the region's healthcare resources. Collectively, these new healthcare centers are set to serve over 375,000 residents, employing a workforce of 50 healthcare professionals. The services offered at these facilities include general consultations, nursing care, chronic disease management, and maternal and child health services, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving health outcomes for its citizens.
