CAF Champions League Draw: Morocco's Football Teams Gear Up for Competition
The draw for the 2026-2027 CAF Champions League, conducted by the African Football Confederation (CAF) in Cairo, has outlined the path for Moroccan football representatives, namely FASS and RS Berkane, as they prepare for the preliminary rounds of this prestigious continental tournament.
FASS to Face Burkina Faso's Champion
In an intriguing matchup, FASS (Fath Athletic Sport de Fès) will take on Rahimo FC, the reigning champion from Burkina Faso, in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League. The first leg of this encounter will occur at FASS's home ground in Fès, followed by an away match in Burkina Faso for the return leg. Should FASS advance to the second preliminary round, they will face the winner of the tie between Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas and Togo's ESCK.
On the other hand, RS Berkane has been granted a bye for the first round, thanks to their continental ranking, allowing them to directly enter the second preliminary round. They will encounter the winner of the Sierra Leonean club Star Sports and Gambia's Medina United. The first leg of this matchup will take place away from home, with the return leg set to be hosted in Berkane.
CAF has scheduled the matches for the first preliminary round on September 4, 5, and 6, 2026, with the return legs taking place on September 11, 12, and 13. The second preliminary round will see the first legs played on October 16, 17, and 18, followed by the return legs on October 23, 24, and 25.
