Clarifying the Allegations Against Him
Mohamed Chouki, the leader of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), has provided clarifications regarding the complaints filed by former parliamentarian Rashid Faik, which included allegations against several political officials, including Chouki himself. Consequently, the case was temporarily shelved due to the absence of confirmations regarding its content and the lack of supporting evidence for the claims made.
Regarding the next stage, Chouki pointed out that the second episode involved a press conference where one of Faik's lawyers announced that they possessed additional information that would warrant a reopening of the investigation. This move again led to the preservation of the complaint, a fact that the attorney general corroborated. Furthermore, he mentioned that the third episode occurred during a subsequent press conference where it was claimed that even more substantial evidence was available, and he expressed anticipation for the outcome of this development.
Chouki asserted that anyone with an accusation or grievance should approach the judiciary directly unless their intention was to discredit a specific individual or political expression. He earlier announced his intention to pursue legal action in response to what he termed "allegations and claims" circulated in recent days following the press conference held by Faik's detained defense team, firmly stating that what is being propagated about him is "absolutely false" and emphasizing that he would legally confront anyone found guilty of fabricating, disseminating, or republishing these claims.
Faik's defense previously mentioned that their client witnessed stacks of 200-dirham banknotes in the trunk of a gray Volvo vehicle, which they claimed belonged to Chouki, estimating the amount to be around 700 million dirhams and linking it to electoral activities during the 2021 elections. They further asserted the existence of photographs of the vehicle and additional details that they believe could be subject to forensic analysis and judicial investigation.
