Clarification on the Friendly Match Cancellation
The governments of the Canary Islands and Spain have publicly distanced themselves from any involvement in the potential cancellation of the friendly match scheduled to take place in Agadir between Costa Adeje Tenerife and the regional team of Souss-Massa. Octavio Caraballo, the Vice-counselor of the Presidency's Cabinet, emphasized that the decision regarding the friendly match lies solely with the organizations that are responsible for its arrangement. His statements were made during an interview with Cadena Ser, where he also called for respect towards the autonomy and decision-making rights of the federations and clubs involved.
In a statement to DIARIO DE AVISOS, Spanish government officials firmly rejected any claims that they had suggested the Tenerife club should suspend its trip to Morocco. They labeled such assertions as an "absolute and total invention," underscoring their commitment to transparency and cooperation with the local sporting entities. Caraballo highlighted that the collaboration between clubs is guided by a signed agreement intended to promote women's football in Morocco, further reinforcing the importance of local governance in sports decisions.
