According to Cameron Capel, President of Sales and Marketing for Capel Rugs, the innovative colors featured in the Bazaar and Casablanca collections have been particularly well-received, while the Sahara collection has attracted attention for its luxurious handfeel. To further enhance the shopping experience, Capel Rugs will also be offering a delightful ‘Rugsy’ giveaway—a charming stuffed camel—exclusively for customers who place orders at the market.
Exploring the Vibrancy of Each Collection
The Bazaar collection stands out as a vibrant hand-knotted masterpiece crafted from 100% wool in India. It celebrates the rich color palette and craftsmanship of contemporary Moroccan fabrics, with each piece featuring dynamic geometric motifs and painterly lines that reflect the artistry of handcrafted textiles. The collection offers five eye-catching patterns—prism, sunset, saffron, mosaic, and spice multi—in various sizes, ranging from 5’ x 8’ to 9’ x 12’, with retail prices starting under $1,699. Capel emphasizes that each rug in the Bazaar collection feels like a curated artwork, characterized by boldness, layers, and fluid movement.
On the other hand, the Casablanca collection reinterprets Moroccan design with a modern twist. This collection is hand-loomed from 100% New Zealand felted wool, combining light backgrounds with refreshing greens and calming blues, accented by rugged geometric lines. Suitable for both traditional and contemporary settings, Casablanca is available in four designs—sage multi, indigo multi, desert, and ivory multi—offered in sizes from 5’ x 8’ to 9’ x 12’, with prices starting below $1,199. Capel describes Casablanca as delivering a warm, inviting, and distinctly contemporary aesthetic, with its hand-drawn lines adding unique texture and character.
Completing the trio is the Sahara collection, which pays homage to Moroccan minimalism. Featuring clean geometric linework against neutral backdrops reminiscent of desert landscapes, Sahara is hand-loomed in India with premium New Zealand wool, resulting in a thick, dense pile. The collection offers six patterns and colorways, including stone, ash, sand, salt, chalk, and reed, available in sizes from 5’ x 8’ to 9’ x 12’, with retail prices starting under $1,099.
In addition to these Moroccan-inspired collections, Capel Rugs is proud to introduce Tessara, a meticulously crafted hand-knotted collection made in India from 100% wool. This collection reimagines traditional motifs in a worldly palette of updated hues and modern neutrals, providing a fresh perspective on classic designs. Tessara features seven colorways and is available in various sizes, with a 5’6” x 8’6” rug retailing for under $3,399. Capel notes that retailers have shown great enthusiasm for the designs and colorways of the Tessara collection.
Moreover, Capel Rugs is expanding its assortment of American-made braided rugs, launching five new collections in diverse colors and constructions. Alongside these rugs, the company will showcase new braided storage baskets, trays, and hampers that coordinate with the latest rug offerings. These innovative storage solutions received an enthusiastic response in April, according to Capel.
The new braided collections include Beach Barn Tweed, a durable 100% polypropylene design inspired by casual seaside living, and Shoreline, which features nine vibrant colors. Other offerings include Chatham and Litchfield, both of which utilize a lockstitch construction, and Westerly, part of the Capel Braid program, featuring a range of 100% wool designs. Retail prices for a 5’ x 8’ oval-shaped rug in these collections range from under $549 to $999, making them accessible for various budgets.
