Regular Session of the Casablanca-Settat Regional Project Execution Agency

The supervisory and control committee of the Regional Project Execution Agency (AREP) for the Casablanca-Settat region convened on Monday for its ordinary September session at the regional headquarters, presided over by Abdellatif Maâzouz, the president of the regional council. This significant meeting was attended by Mohamed Mhidia, the wali of the region, as well as the governor of the Al-Fida-Mers Sultan district, alongside the agency’s director, Mustapha El Ghazi, and other committee members.

During this session, El Ghazi presented a comprehensive report detailing the progress of various projects and programs as of the end of September. This report is part of the agency's ongoing efforts to monitor the implementation stages of projects across different provinces within the region, as stated in an official AREP release. Currently, eleven projects are under construction, with a total investment of approximately 377 million dirhams (MDH), while fourteen projects have been completed, amounting to a total of 247 MDH. Notably, the construction progress of the ongoing projects has reached an impressive 83%, benefiting 83 municipalities that collectively serve over 3 million residents.

New Initiatives and Continued Commitment to Quality

In a bid to further enhance the region's development, El Ghazi announced that work on 34 new projects, with a combined cost exceeding one billion dirhams, is set to commence in October. This initiative aims to bolster the continuous momentum of project execution in the region. Additionally, El Ghazi emphasized the agency's dedication to governance and quality by maintaining its ISO 9001 certification, which pertains to quality management systems, and ISO 27001 certification, which focuses on information security management systems.

Moreover, AREP is actively pursuing ISO 14001 certification for environmental management systems, as well as ISO 45001 certification for occupational health and safety management systems. These certifications reflect the agency's commitment to enhancing standards in quality, information security, environmental protection, and health and safety at work.

Another significant aspect of the agency's strategy includes the advancement of digitalization and the development of project monitoring tools. The agency employs a Geographic Information System (GIS) to collect and organize geographical data pertinent to the projects, coupled with the use of drones to capture aerial images before and after project completion. This innovative approach aims to improve project oversight and accountability.

At the conclusion of the session, both the wali and the committee president commended the agency's accomplishments over the past months, recognizing the positive momentum that characterizes its efforts in supporting and actualizing various projects and programs on the ground, while underscoring the importance of ongoing commitment to these initiatives.
