National Exhibition Commemorates 60 Years of Moroccan Art
The Moroccan Professional Artists Union is set to host a grand exhibition titled "60 Years of Painting in Morocco" in Casablanca, offering an extensive showcase of six decades of artistic creation. This event is designed to provide a panoramic view of the evolution of Moroccan visual arts, featuring a selection of works from both pioneering artists and contemporary talents. It aims to highlight the aesthetic richness and diversity of Moroccan plastic arts while celebrating the cultural vibrancy that these artists have contributed to the national and international art scene.
The exhibition pays tribute to the visual artists who have played a significant role in shaping the national artistic memory. By underscoring the central role of visual arts in cultural development, this exhibition seeks to engage the public in a dynamic dialogue about the importance of these creative expressions in Morocco's cultural heritage. Visitors will experience a lively artistic panorama that blends the seasoned expertise of established artists with the innovative energy of emerging talents.
A Multifaceted Showcase Across Four Locations
The Casablanca leg of the exhibition will take place in four distinct venues: the Media Library of the Hassan II Mosque from October 3 to 17, 2026; the "Mine d'Art" gallery from October 8 to 28, 2026; the Higher School of Fine Arts of Casablanca from October 6 to 25, 2026; and the Nadar Gallery from October 7 to 30, 2026. Each location will offer a unique opportunity for the public to engage with various artistic styles and experiences, reflecting the diversity of Moroccan plastic arts and their ongoing relevance.
The Moroccan Professional Artists Union has ensured that the exhibition presents a comprehensive overview of the Moroccan visual arts scene by including works from various generations of artists. This includes iconic pieces from the pioneers of the Moroccan art movement alongside contributions from successive generations and contemporary creators who are continually pushing the boundaries of artistic language through experimentation and fresh perspectives. This diversity encapsulates the ongoing journey of Moroccan visual arts as a continuous experience where memory, identity, modernity, and renewal converge.
To document this significant project, a dedicated art publication titled "60 Years of Painting in Morocco" will accompany the exhibition. This publication aims to preserve the memory of this national event by documenting its various stages and the experiences of participating artists. The Casablanca exhibition is part of a nationwide tour, aiming to broaden public interaction with Moroccan visual arts and bring the works of artists closer to audiences across different regions of Morocco.
