Progress and New Developments in Casablanca-Settat Region Projects

The Supervisory and Control Committee of the Regional Agency for Project Execution (AREP) in the Casablanca-Settat region convened on Monday for its ordinary session in September. This meeting took place at the regional headquarters, presided over by the region's Council President, Abdellatif Maâzouz. In attendance were key regional figures, including Wali Mohamed Mhidia and the governor of the Al-Fida Mers Sultan district, along with the agency’s director, Mustapha Ghazi, and committee members.

During this session, Mustapha Ghazi delivered a detailed presentation on the progress of various projects and programs as of the end of September. This is part of the agency's ongoing efforts to monitor the implementation stages of its initiatives across the region's provinces. According to an official statement from AREP, there are currently eleven projects under development, with a total investment of approximately 377 million dirhams (MDH), while fourteen projects have been completed at a combined cost of 247 MDH. The advancement rate for ongoing projects has reached an impressive 83%, benefiting 83 municipalities that together house over 3 million residents.

Looking ahead, Ghazi announced that the agency is set to initiate work on 34 new projects, with a total projected cost exceeding one billion dirhams, starting in October. This initiative aims to sustain the momentum of project execution and enhance the region's development dynamics. Furthermore, Ghazi emphasized that the agency has successfully retained its ISO 9001 certification for Quality Management Systems and ISO 27001 for Information Security Management Systems.

Additionally, AREP is actively pursuing ISO 14001 certification for Environmental Management Systems and ISO 45001 for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems. This commitment signifies the agency's dedication to enhancing quality standards, information security, environmental protection, and occupational health and safety.

Moreover, the agency is advancing its digitization efforts and improving its project monitoring tools. It employs Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to gather and organize geographic data related to projects, along with utilizing drones for aerial photography to document projects before and after construction. At the conclusion of the session, both the Wali and the committee president acknowledged the agency's accomplishments over recent months and the positive momentum that characterizes its efforts in supporting and actualizing various projects and programs on the ground, emphasizing the importance of continuing these endeavors.
