Casablanca Stock Exchange Experiences Significant Decline

On Friday, March 27, 2026, the Casablanca Stock Exchange faced a downturn, with its primary index, the MASI, dropping by 1.27% to close at 17,221.05 points. Similarly, the MASI 20, which includes the 20 most liquid stocks, experienced a decline of 1.5%, closing at 1,308.04 points. The MASI ESG, reflecting companies with the highest ESG ratings according to Moody’s ESG Solutions, also saw a decrease of 1.4%, finishing at 1,184.36 points. Furthermore, the MASI Mid and Small Cap index, which tracks the performance of small and medium-sized enterprises, lost 0.91% to settle at 1,775.81 points.

On an international scale, the FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index and the FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid indices concluded the session with respective losses of 1.17% and 1.32%, ending at 16,032.18 points and 14,657.20 points. Sector-wise, indices for Electricity (-5.04%), Chemicals (-4.55%), and Real Estate Investment Companies (-3.76%) registered the steepest declines. Conversely, the Leisure and Hotels sector saw an increase of 1.94%, followed by Forestry and Paper (+1.2%) and Healthcare (+0.71%), which outperformed other sectors.

Trading volume reached over 412.79 million dirhams, primarily driven by the central market, with significant transactions involving Attijariwafa Bank (43.12 million dirhams), Managem (40.65 million dirhams), and Lesieur Cristal (34.97 million dirhams). The market capitalization was recorded at over 964.46 billion dirhams. In terms of individual stock performance, Salafin led the declines at -5.93% to 508 dirhams, followed by Taqa Morocco (-5.04% to 1,770 dirhams) and SNEP (-4.65% to 410 dirhams). In contrast, Sanlam Maroc rose by 8% to 2,700 dirhams, along with Oulmès (+5.99% to 1,238 dirhams) and AFMA (+5.92% to 1,180 dirhams), reflecting the best gains of the day.
