Casablanca Stock Exchange: MASI Takes a Breather on Thursday

Market Overview: A Day of Caution

The Casablanca Stock Exchange experienced a notable pause in trading on Thursday, April 9, 2026, as the MASI index struggled to maintain momentum after an initial rebound attempt at the start of the session. The market's performance was influenced by the precarious nature of the ceasefire announced the previous day between the United States and Iran, coupled with a rebound in oil prices, which has prompted investors to adopt a more cautious stance. Consequently, the MASI index closed down by 0.22%, settling at 18,063.02 points, marking a year-to-date decline of 4.16%.

Similarly, the MASI 20 index, which includes the largest capitalizations on the exchange, mirrored this trend, recording a decline of 0.29% to reach 1,354.39 points. The trading activity on the central market remained moderate, with a total volume of 305 million dirhams transacted during the day.
