ONEE Enhances Casablanca's Water Supply Infrastructure
On July 19, 2026, the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) successfully commissioned new 400 kV connection facilities to support the electricity supply for the upcoming desalination station in the Casablanca-Settat region. This significant infrastructure investment, exceeding 486 million Moroccan Dirhams (MDH), includes the construction of a new 400/MT kV substation in Lamharza Essahel, boasting a capacity of 300 MVA. Additionally, a new 50 km double-circuit 400 kV line was established, further enhancing the region's energy transport network.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to develop and modernize the electrical transmission infrastructure, aimed at reinforcing the reliability and quality of electricity supply, particularly for major projects. The new desalination plant is expected to commence operations in February 2027, marking a crucial step towards addressing the region's water scarcity challenges.
