Celebrating Women's Contributions at the Public Prosecution Presidency on International Women's Day

Honoring Women in the Judiciary

On March 9, 2026, the Public Prosecution Presidency in Rabat celebrated its female judges, staff, and workers during an annual event organized to mark International Women's Day. The event was attended by Hicham Blawi, the Attorney General of the Court of Cassation and head of the Public Prosecution. This gathering, held in collaboration with the Association of Judges and Employees of the Public Prosecution, served as an occasion to commend the vital roles played by women within this institution and to acknowledge their contributions to strengthening the justice system and enhancing the presence of women in various leadership positions.

Progress and Commitment to Women's Rights

In his address, Hicham Blawi emphasized that the commemoration of International Women's Day transcends mere celebration; it symbolizes the global struggle for women's rights and recognition of their roles in society. He noted that Morocco has made significant strides in improving women's conditions, thanks to the visionary leadership of King Mohammed VI, who has prioritized women's issues within public policy. Blawi highlighted that women now represent approximately 27% of judges in the country, indicating the growing presence of women in the judiciary. He reiterated the commitment of the Public Prosecution Presidency to gender equality as a means to enhance women's leadership within the institution.

Furthermore, the protection of women from various forms of violence remains a top priority of criminal policy, as the advancement of women's rights is considered a fundamental pillar of the new development model. Achieving sustainable development is contingent upon the effective integration of women into all aspects of life. During the event, the role of the Public Prosecution in addressing women's issues was underscored, emphasizing the importance of correctly applying laws that protect women's rights and combating all forms of violence and discrimination against them. The ceremony concluded with the honoring of several retired female judges and the distribution of commemorative gifts to the women working in the institution as a token of appreciation for their professional efforts and contributions.
